Catching up -- December Tuesday

sorry - got to busy to post these back in December - but here are some pictures from our class.

I LOVED teaching in December - the kids were so excited for Christmas. It was fun to sing Christmas songs with them and to read Christmas stories and make gifts with them.

On Tuesday, I had my mom come to help.
After I welcomed everyone we passed around our magic box - the kids had fun trying to guess what was inside. We opened it up to discover a GINGER BREAD Boy! I hid the Ginger Boy under each child's mat and we had to guess who had the ginger boy. They Loved to take turns with that, and try to guess who had him.

We read 2 stories by Jan Brett Gingerbread Baby and Gingerbread friends

then we got to color some ginger bread houses and THEN make our very own gingerbread boy or girl.

My mom came to help with that project - it was fun to have "gramma Corrie" with us!

sorry I missed Calvin making is gingerbread boy -

Catching up - December Thursday

On Thursday -

our magic box reveled Christmas Trees.

We read a sweet book called - about a little boy who was too sick to go outside and play, or pick out a Christmas tree, so his Dad went and picked a tree that would grow with him. He would dig it up every year and bring it inside for the little boy to enjoy the outside, inside.
We sang some Christmas songs, I let the kids have free play as I got their crafts ready.
We made snow flakes - to put on our Christmas trees at home, and then Christmas tree's out of sand paper. And last - my favorite craft, little pine cones with pom poms. Then the kids helped me wrap them and the Gingerbread boy/girl to give as gifts to our family.

Here they are making their snowflakes...

I wish I would have gotten pictures of the pine cone trees and wrapping - but the kids needed my hands more then they needed me to take pictures ; )

Hope you all had a very merry Christmas!
We did.
And are excited the Joy School has started again.
